How Omobosola Alaka is Redefining Success in Nigeria’s Creative Economy

To meet Omobosola Karimat Alaka is to encounter a force of nature. At one moment, she is analysing streaming algorithms as CEO of Hafriplay, a fast-growing music and entertainment platform; in the next, she’s outlining a political engagement strategy or mapping a brand’s digital marketing funnel.

“Hafriplay isn’t just a streaming platform,” she says. “It’s an ecosystem where entertainment, branding, and large-scale project coordination intersect.

“For artists, it provides distribution; for brands, an authentic gateway into Nigeria’s youth culture; and for political campaigns, a blueprint for meaningful engagement.”

She described herself as a “dot connector,” spotting the narrative thread between a musical trend, a youth movement, and a brand’s commercial goal.

As a music executive, brand strategist, and project coordinator, Alaka’s experience spans political engagement, digital marketing, and relationship management. In an industry that often prizes hyper-specialisation, she proves that breadth when executed with precision is a rare competitive advantage.

Alaka was selected for the sixth cohort of the Standard Chartered’s Women in Tech Nigeria Accelerator delivered in partnership with Village Capital and Enterprise Development Centre. She was also one of the 5 recipients who won a $10,000 grant to scale Hafriplay’s operations, validating her approach and her mission to integrate multiple creative and commercial sectors.

Alaka embodies the spirit of boundary-breaking entrepreneurship. Hafriplay operates at the intersection of culture, technology, and commerce, proving that versatility and vision can create lasting impact.
