Mikano, Changan Emerge Platinum Infrastructure Partners for Lagos Cycling Event

Mikano International Limited and Changan have been named the Official Platinum and Founding Infrastructure Partner for the inaugural Lagos Gran Fondo ‘EKO 170’, Nigeria’s first 170-kilometre cycling challenge, scheduled for January 11, 2026.
This was disclosed yesterday through a statement from the organisers, describing it as a major boost for delivering a world-class, safe, and sustainable sporting event in Lagos.
“The EKO 170’ is fully endorsed by the Lagos State Government and is expected to become a landmark sports tourism event in Nigeria,” the statement said.


“Under the partnership, Mikano and Changan will provide critical in-kind infrastructure, including official lead, commissaire, and support vehicles, on-site power generation for the festival village, medical support services, and rider sustenance.”
The organisers said this support will form the operational backbone of the cycling challenge.
Event Organiser, Olalere Odusote, described the collaboration as more than a sponsorship.

“This is a foundational partnership. Mikano and Changan’s comprehensive support ensures we have the tangible assets to execute a safe, seamless, and spectacular event.

“Together, we are not just organising a race; we are powering a movement that celebrates human achievement and the spirit of Lagos,” he said.

Also speaking, the Chairman of Mikano International, Mofid Karameh, said the company’s involvement aligns with its long-standing commitment to nation-building and community development.

“The EKO 170 represents ambition, endurance, and a collective drive towards a brighter future; values we champion. We are proud to lend our support and operational expertise to this groundbreaking event,” he added.

As part of the partnership, Mikano and Changan will enjoy prominent branding as the exclusive ‘Power and Infrastructure Partner’ across all event platforms, including the official website, participant materials, and the event village.

The collaboration will also feature the ‘Mikano Clean Energy Hub’ at the finish line festival, showcasing sustainable energy solutions.

“The Lagos Gran Fondo ‘EKO 170’ aims to promote sports tourism, healthy living, and community spirit, while positioning Lagos on the global map of competitive cycling. Registration for the event opened on November 11, 2025,” the statement concluded.
