Osunsanya brings Royal Lineage, Global Finance Expertise to Awujale Discourse

Prince Oladapo Oluwatosin Ayodele Osunsanya, of the Tunwase–Oduba royal family through the Fusenguwa ruling house, has continued to feature prominently in conversations surrounding the Awujale stool, drawing attention for a profile that blends royal lineage with deep exposure to global finance and institutional leadership.

A direct descendant of Awujale Adesimbo Tunwase, Prince Osunsanya represents one of the formally recognised ruling houses of Ijebu Land.

Closely connected to the cultural and communal life of Ijebu Ode, Prince Osunsanya has consistently articulated a vision of an Awujale institution that is both tradition-rooted and forward-looking.

Observers note his sustained engagement with the responsibilities of the throne and its relevance to the cultural, economic, and social advancement of Ijebu Land.

At 51, he is regarded as a distinguished son of Ijebu Ode whose involvement extends beyond ceremonial appearances.

His active membership of Egbe Bobamayegun Okunrin Asiwaju Akile Ijebu and consistent participation with his regberegbe age group during the annual Ojude Oba festival underscore a lived commitment to Ijebu customs and communal identity.

Prince Osunsanya has publicly emphasised the role of the Awujale institution as a rallying point for unity, development, and strategic engagement.

“The Awujale throne must continue to serve as a beacon of cultural pride, economic strength, and modern governance,” he has stated, while also affirming his commitment to the long-standing aspirations of the Ijebu people, including the quest for greater political and economic self-determination.

His educational background reflects early discipline and international exposure.

A former cadet of the Nigerian Navy Secondary School, Ojo, he proceeded to the United States, where he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Ohio State University, followed by a Finance degree and an MBA from Regis University.

This academic trajectory shaped an approach defined by analytical rigour, systems thinking, and institutional discipline.

With over 25 years of professional experience, Prince Osunsanya has built a career across financial technology and capital markets.

His work spans investment banking, the founding and scaling of brokerage and trading technology platforms, co-creation of a global retail investment platform, and executive leadership within regulated wealth and capital markets institutions operating across the United States.

He holds multiple senior regulatory licences issued by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), including Series 7, Series 24, Series 55, Series 3, and Series 63. These credentials reflect extensive supervisory, trading, and compliance responsibilities within highly regulated financial environments.

Beyond capital markets, his influence extends to technology governance and capacity development.

He founded Credit Union WealthTech Connect, owns a major software development company based in Cape Verde, and established an early artificial intelligence–focused data centre initiative in Africa.

He also co-founded Odudu-DAO, a blockchain governance platform for the ECOWAS region, and served as an adviser to Google Digital Skills for Africa, a programme credited with empowering millions across the continent.

Prince Osunsanya is also known for sustained private support for orphaned and vulnerable children in Nigeria, funding education, learning materials, and basic welfare over several years.

Associates describe these efforts as deliberate and consistent rather than episodic.

His articulated priorities for Ijebu Land include close advisory engagement with traditional institutions, preservation of cultural heritage, and economic diversification across agriculture, finance, healthcare, and the creative industries.

Education, digital skills development, youth empowerment, religious harmony, and social cohesion remain central to his outlook.

Rooted in tradition and tested within complex global systems, Prince Osunsanya presents a profile defined by institutional depth, accountability, and readiness for service.
