Aboderin Abiola Dolapo started a creative business called Agbeke Artistry, and they just came out with a new collection called Afrocessories by Agbeke. It shows you a distinct side of the history of African textiles.
This collection is a full effort to show off classic materials in a new way in the modern accessories market. It makes things that are already popular in culture into stylish objects that are useful and expressive.
People in Africa often use Ankara cloth in storytelling and culture. It is bright and colourful. The series is built on different ways to use this cloth. Dolapo makes more than just clothes out of Ankara. She also develops a line of handmade bags that show off the fabric in interesting and new ways.
The designers put a lot of effort into making sure these things look and work well. That’s why they come in so many various sizes and shapes.
