The cleaning industry in South Eastern Nigeria is gaining traction as the Prime Environment Cleaners Network Association (PECNA), also known as The Cleaners Network (TCN), held its maiden South East regional forum in Imo State.

The event, which drew participants from Imo, Ebonyi, Enugu, Anambra, and Abia States, brought together cleaning professionals, industry stakeholders, and government officials to discuss collaboration, capacity building, and strategies for strengthening the sector.

A key highlight of the forum was the official inauguration of Mrs. Charity Odinakachi Uwalaka as PECNA’s South East Regional Coordinator. In her acceptance speech, Mrs. Uwalaka said the forum marked a new phase for the industry in the region.

“For nearly seven years, I’ve been training others in this field within Imo State. This forum unites our collective efforts to elevate the cleaning profession,” she said. “Beyond job creation, our work supports a cleaner, healthier environment. I appreciate our President for his encouragement and leadership.”

PECNA President, Barrister Yakubu Mohammed Yazeed, said the forum was part of the association’s nationwide expansion drive.

“Our goal has always been to build a national presence. Having held similar events in other regions, this milestone in the South East reinforces our mission to connect stakeholders and grow a sustainable cleaning ecosystem across Nigeria,” he stated.

The Senior Special Adviser to the Imo State Governor on Youth Affairs, Hon. Eric Uwakwe, commended PECNA’s efforts and encouraged young Nigerians to consider entrepreneurship within the cleaning sector.

“There is dignity in this work,” he said. “I urge youths to explore opportunities in the cleaning business, embrace innovation, and maintain professionalism. The government will continue to support initiatives that promote job creation and youth empowerment.”

Other speakers, including Mr. Somto Henry Ezeaniomenyi and Pharmacist Amaka Ezeihuaku, delivered insightful presentations on industry trends, innovation, and sustainability.

Mrs. Uwalaka announced plans to expand PECNA’s regional presence through awareness campaigns, training, and partnerships aimed at professionalizing the sector.

With its successful debut in the South East, PECNA is positioning itself as a key driver of innovation, professional standards, and environmental responsibility in Nigeria’s growing cleaning industry.
