Investor trust, currency stability, and sustainable economic reforms took centre stage as the European Business Chamber (Eurocham) hosted the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, at its C-Level Business Forum in Lagos.

In a wide-ranging fireside chat, Governor Cardoso engaged European CEOs and consular leaders, outlining his priorities for rebuilding confidence in Nigeria’s monetary and fiscal policies. He reaffirmed his focus on strengthening the naira, reducing inflation to single digits, lowering interest rates, and maintaining robust oversight of the banking sector to ensure financial system stability.

The session was moderated by Eurocham Director and Chief Country Representative of Deutsche Bank Representative Office Nigeria, Mr. Andreas Voss, who highlighted key investor concerns around foreign exchange stability and the overall investment climate. Cardoso’s candid responses, according to participants, demonstrated his commitment to transparency and partnership with the private sector.

Opening the dialogue, Eurocham President, Mr. Yann Gilbert, reiterated the Chamber’s mandate as “the official voice of European businesses in Nigeria, advancing structured dialogue that strengthens bilateral economic relations.”

In his closing remarks, Eurocham General Manager, Mr. Chigozie Okwara, stressed that the engagement marked “not an endpoint but a starting point,” adding that Eurocham is committed to translating dialogue into action, partnerships, and measurable results for both European investors and Nigeria’s economy.
