Nollywood is set to take centre stage at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) as BRS Studios announced that its latest feature film, Stitches, will make its world premiere at the global event in 2025.

Directed by award-winning Ghanaian filmmaker Shirley Frimpong-Manso, Stitches marks her much-anticipated Nollywood debut. The film tells the story of Boma, a talented fashion designer from a modest background whose dreams of love and ambition thrust her into Lagos’ glamorous yet unforgiving fashion scene.

The star-studded cast features Dakore Egbuson-Akande and Regina Askia, alongside emerging talents Adaobi Dibor, Obinna Okenwa, and Tosan Anyafulu. Also featured are Jemima Osunde, Tomi Ojo, Swanky Jerry, Frank Edoho, Chimezie Imo, and comedian-turned-actor Nasboi.

Produced by Chris Odeh, Stitches is one of only 10 films selected for TIFF’s Industry Selects programme, a curated platform that spotlights projects available for global acquisition.

Speaking on the selection, Odeh described Stitches as a story that transcends romance and ambition.
“Stitches is about love, identity, and ambition, but at its heart, it celebrates the resilience and creativity of young Africans. We are thrilled to bring this story to a global stage at TIFF,” he said.

Founded in 2024 by Joy Efe Odiete of Blue Pictures, actor-producer Ramsey Nouah of Ramsey Films, and Chris Odeh of Sozo Films, BRS Studios is fast building a reputation in Nollywood and beyond. The studio’s breakout Netflix hit, Tokunbo, ranked among the platform’s top 10 films in more than 50 countries.

From Lagos to Toronto, Stitches signals a bold new chapter for Nollywood storytelling — one that blends glamour, cultural authenticity, and international appeal.
