‘Reparations: The Colonial Debt’ Premiers in Mali

The premiere of the documentary ‘Reparations: The Colonial Debt’ recently took place in Bamako, Mali, shedding light on one of Africa’s urgent conversations – the call for reparations from former colonial powers.

Produced under the Réveil d’Afrik initiative and directed by filmmaker and researcher Ibrahima Sow, the documentary makes a case for reparative justice, chronicling the colonial era.

The film features perspectives from notable experts across the continent. Attendees at the premiere emphasized that reparations are necessary not only for restoring historical justice but also for Africa’s path toward dignity and autonomy.

The documentary is scheduled for nationwide broadcast on ORTM and Africable Television, expanding its impact across Mali and the broader African continent.
