Originating from Edo State, Nigeria, OBA DDJ45’s journey into music is a story of dedication, resilience, and a deep love for nightlife.

A graduate of Estam University, Benin Republic, OBA DDJ45 earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 2022.

His interest in the nightlife and music industry began as early as 2019, long before he officially committed to a career as a professional DJ.

What started as a hobby soon evolved into a full-fledged passion, leading him to make the bold decision to pursue DJing professionally in 2024. During a recent interview with THISDAY, OBA DDJ45 was asked three intelligent questions, and he responded with heartfelt and inspiring answers that
truly showcased his passion and wisdom.

“My inspiration wasn’t a sudden spark, but rather a gradual immersion. Since 2019, I’ve been captivated by the electrifying atmosphere of the nightlife. It wasn’t just about the music; it was about the collective energy, the way people connected on the dance floor, and the power of a perfectly curated soundscape to transport them.

“I realised I didn’t just want to be a part of that energy; I wanted to create and amplify it. The decision to officially become a DJ in late 2023 was a natural evolution, a calling to contribute my passion and vision to that vibrant world.”

He also gushed about his biggest achievement. “Becoming one of the biggest DJs in Cape Town, South Africa, is his most cherished achievement so far. It’s more than just a title; it’s a testament to the hard work, dedication, and the incredible support from the vibrant music community here.

“Seeing the crowds connect with my music, feeling their energy reciprocate mine, and knowing that I’m contributing to the city’s dynamic nightlife
scene fills me with immense pride. Every set, every opportunity to share my passion, feels like a significant milestone.”

Beyond his strong foothold in Cape Town, OBA DDJ45 has also graced some of Nigeria’s most iconic clubs.

He also expressed grateful to have electrified crowds at Zero Gravity on the beachside where he commanded the stage alongside celebrated personalities like Rahman Jago, Poco Lee, and Shody, creating unforgettable moments of pure synergy.

His electrifying presence also lit up Romies Block, Abuja’s biggest block party, solidifying his reputation as a DJ who can command any dance floor, anywhere.

On how he approaches mixing, OBA DDJ45 said it was both technical and intuitive. “I believe in seamless transitions that tell a story, taking the audience on a journey rather than just playing a sequence of songs.

“My creative process often begins with exploring new tracks and identifying those that resonate with me on a deeper level.

“I pay close attention to mood, tempo, and key, carefully crafting sets that build energy and maintain a captivating flow. I love to experiment with unexpected mashups and live edits, adding my unique signature to each performance. It’s about creating an immersive experience where every beat feels intentional.”
