Kingmakers, Ifako Ijaiye LG Unveil Sports Complex, Target Grassroots, Youth Development

In a move towards youth empowerment and grassroots sports development, leading sports and digital entertainment platform, KingMakers, in partnership with the Ifako Ijaiye Local Government have commissioned ‘KingMakers Ifako Ijaiye Sports Complex’ in Lagos.

The project being a major Corporate SocialResponsibility (CSR) effort is designed to benefit over 200,000 residents within and beyond the Ifako Ijaiye community.

The initiative reiterates KingMakers’ ongoing commitment to creating safe, inclusive, and inspiring spaces, as well as empowering young talents, and communities to thrive through sport.

The facility boasts a 150-capacity sports arena for grassroots tournaments, standard football pitch with lighting for evening use, green relaxation area, male and female restrooms and administrative office spaces, amongst others.

Speaking at the commissioning of the facilities, graced by state officials and community members, Chief Executive Officer of KingMakers (BetKing), Ossy Ukanwoke stated that the complex is much more than CSR project, but designed to identify and nurture local talents who will one day represent Nigeria on the international scene.

“This project embodies our core belief that sports is more than just competition. It is a vehicle for social transformation, unity, and empowerment. We are intentional about investing in initiatives that have long-term impact, this sports complex is one of such commitments to supporting the communities we operate in.

“We are proud to work alongside visionary partners like the Ifako Ijaiye Local Government to deliver infrastructure that inspires young people, promotes physical wellness, and provides a pathway to excellence. Beyond this facility, our broader CSR strategy is focused on inclusion, access, and opportunity,” Ukanwoke added.

Also speaking, Chairman of Ifako Ijaiye Local Government, Prince Usman Akanbi stated that the project is a result of effective collaboration, stressing partnerships between government, individuals, and multinational organisations to foster development.

He affirmed the progressive impacts of the sport facility, assuring of long-term maintenance plan.

“Sports has no language, tribe, or religion. In the arena, everyone comes together. We are sure that this complex will help get our youth off the streets and give them a platform to showcase their talent. Moreover, this is a significant step forward in community development and crime reduction.

“I extend my deepest appreciation to KingMakers for their visionary investment and to our local government leadership for their consistent backing. We’ve not just built a sports complex, we have established an enduring legacy that will benefit countless future generations,” he said.

Also present, Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC), Mr. Lekan Fatodu charged community dwellers on maintenance culture, imploring them to see the gesture as their common legacy requiring collective stewardship.
