The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide has commended the recent meeting between Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed and former presidential candidate Peter Obi, describing it as a pivotal step toward national unity and progress.

Governor Mohammed and Mr. Obi met in Bauchi earlier this week, where they discussed potential political collaborations and strategies for addressing Nigeria’s governance challenges. Speaking after the meeting, Governor Mohammed emphasized the need for a united front to drive good governance and provide a constructive opposition.

“I’m ready to work with Peter Obi,” the governor stated. “We will ensure we come together, close ranks, and bring good governance to the country. Our collaboration is a message that will resonate across political, regional, and religious lines. The PDP governors stand behind such a transcendental movement to rescue and recover our country.”

Reacting to the development, National President of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, welcomed the alliance and stressed the need for younger, dynamic leadership to reposition Nigeria.

“Nigeria needs energetic and visionary leaders who can think outside the box to restore the country’s fortunes,” Okwu stated in a press release on Friday. “At a time when things appear stagnant, the country requires leaders who are not above 65 years—leaders who have both the vision and the strength to execute it.”

Okwu emphasized that with the 2027 general elections approaching, young political figures like Governor Mohammed and Mr. Obi are well-positioned to chart a new course for the nation.

“As the governor rightly pointed out, we urge them to close ranks and work together in the interest of national development,” he added. “Nigerian youths are ready to support anyone with a clear vision for the country’s prosperity.”

The Ohanaeze youth leader also called on other young political stakeholders to set aside personal ambitions and work towards a unified strategy that prioritizes national progress over individual gains.

“Governor Mohammed, as the leader of the PDP Governors’ Forum, has been vocal on national issues, just like Mr. Peter Obi. Such vibrant leadership is essential in navigating the country out of its current socio-economic and political challenges,” Okwu concluded.

The meeting between the two political heavyweights has sparked discussions on the future of Nigeria’s political landscape, with many observers viewing it as a potential realignment ahead of the 2027 elections.
