Iluyomades’ New Lease of Life
Pastor Idowu Iluyomade, former pastor at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) City of David Parish in Victoria Island and his wife, Siju, are always in the news for several reasons, mostly for their extravagant lifestyles.
The duo set tongues wagging when they were transferred out of the affluent parish shortly after the ostentatious celebration of Siju’s 60th birthday party at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos, last year. The event, which was a gathering of who-is-who in the nation’s high society, however, became an unexpected adversity to the couple.
Critics bashed them with accusations of insensitivity. The action was believed to have annoyed the heads of RCCG, especially a few weeks after the death of Access Bank boss, Herbert Wigwe, who was one of the greatest donors to the parish. As a result, the couple were transferred to another parish in Apapa, Lagos.
Like a man whose major livelihood is about to be taken away from him, the transfer did not go down well with the couple and they threatened fire and brimstone. They vowed to withdraw from the RCCG. Many took the threat with a pinch of salt, while others called it a rant of an ant. Of course, some of their fans realised how powerful and influential the couple has grown since they took over the affair of the parish. They knew that the couple would likely leave the church.
Last Sunday, many were shocked that the couple eventually made good their threat to pull away from the RCCG. It was revealed that Iluyomade’s new ministry held its inaugural service at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, which was marked by jubilation and dancing.
The pastor announced the new ministry on Instagram, inviting the public to attend.
“The Family Fellowship invites you specially. Join us tomorrow at the Civic Centre for a special time in the Lord’s presence. Promises to be a great experience,” he wrote.
