Past NBA President, Alegeh Bags National Award
Past President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Augustine Oyarekhua Alegeh, SAN, along with 339 others have been awarded prestigious national honours, with Alegeh bagging the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON).
Augustine Alegeh, SAN, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitration was the 26th President of the NBA, from 2014 – 2016. He is on record to have introduced electronic system of voting by universal suffrage, which has cheeringly endeared him to younger members of the Association. It is to his credit that the NBA erected a befitting National Secretariat in Abuja, which is now the pride of all Nigerian Lawyers.
His national award therefore, came as no surprise to Nigerian Lawyers, who have continued to applaud his numerous achievements for the profession.
In a commendation message, the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki said: “It is with great pride that I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the esteemed citizens of Edo State origin who have been bestowed with prestigious national awards, in recognition of their invaluable contributions to Nigeria’s development, and for being worthy ambassadors of our beloved country. Augustine Oyarekhua Alegeh, SAN, Chief (Dr) Leemon Agbonjagwe Ikpea and Prince Clem Ikanade Agba, on their distinguished investiture with the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) awards”.
