Federal High Court Commences Annual Vacation, July 24

The Federal High Court of Nigeria will proceed on its annual vacation, from July 24, 2023 to September 15, 2023. The Court’s Assistant Director (Information), Dr Catherine Oby Christopher, made this known in a statement released to the newsmen in Abuja.

According to the statement, its Divisions in Abuja, Lagos, and Port-Harcourt will be opened for cases of urgent importance and other activities. Justices Ahmed R. Mohammed and O. A. Egwuatu, will oversee the Abuja Division during the vacation, while Justices I. N. Oweibo and A. Aluko will sit in the Lagos Division, and the Port-Harcourt Division will be supervised by Justices A. T. Mohammed and S.I. Mark.

The Statement reads:

“By virtue of the provisions of Order 46, Rule 4 (d) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules 2019, the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Honourable Justice John Terhemba Tsoho, announces it’s 2023 Annual Vacation and Roster for Vacation Judges.

“The vacation will commence from Monday, the 24th day of July, 2023 to Friday, the 15th day of September, 2023.

“The court shall resume full sitting on Monday, the 18th day of September, 2023.

“This is for Hon. Judges to enjoy their well-deserved rest, and to prepare for the challenges of the new legal year.

“Consequently, the litigating public will be at liberty to approach only the underlisted functional courts, located nearest to them – Abuja, Lagos, and Port-Harcourt.

“The vacation Judges are: Hon. Justice A. R. Mohammed and Hon. Justice O.A. Egwuatu (Abuja); Hon. Justice I. N. Oweibo and Hon. Justice A. Aluko

(Lagos); Hon. Justice A. T. Mohammed and Hon. Justice S.I. Mark (Port Harcourt).

“It is essential to stress that during the vacation, only cases of Extreme Urgency, such as Arrest of the ship(s) and Fundamental Rights Enforcement are to be entertained”, the statement partly read.
