CAN, PFN Congratulatory Letters to Tinubu Personal Goodwill, says group
The recent congratulatory messages from CAN and PFN leaders to Bola Ahmed Tinubu are nothing more than personal expressions of goodwill, the Coalition of Christian Youth Groups has said.
In a statement signed by the Coordinator Nath Bitrus and Secretary of the group Agape Enioluwa, they said these messages should not be seen as an endorsement of a government that came to power through illegitimate means.
The presidential election was marred by violence, rigging, and irregularities, making it far from credible.
The group mentioned that the writers of these letters cannot deny the truth or silence their conscience. It is important to question whether endorsing a government that declared the election as a religious war is the right path to take.
They further said congratulating an administration that has caused widespread hardship and suffering for the people within 24 hours of its inauguration is unfounded.
The statement further noted that the Christian community and well-meaning Nigerians are aware of those who stand for truth, equity, and justice.
They added that the individuals who wrote these letters have acted in pursuit of their personal interests, not on behalf of Christians in Nigeria.
They said they urge all Christians and justice-loving individuals to disregard these letters and await the outcome of the petitions challenging the fraudulent election. Dishonor will eventually catch up with those who have fraudulently obtained positions of honor.”
