South West Govs Meet Region’s Federal Lawmakers Behind Closed Doors

The governors of the South-west are currently meeting with South-west lawmakers behind closed doors on the recently passed Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) and the proposed report on the Electoral Act Amendment Bill.
The meeting which is taking place at Crosss River Hall at Transcorp Hotel, Abuja was supposed to start by 7pm but did not commence until about 8:15p.m.
The Chairman of South-west Governors Forum and the Governor of Ondo state, Rotimi Akeredolu, apologised to the lawmakers for not convening such meeting for a while.
According to him, the last time such meeting was held was when they wanted to decide on who becomes the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Akeredolu described the inability to hold subsequent meetings as unfortunate, while assuring that the development would not repeat itself.
It was in the course of his address that journalists were asked to step out, while the meeting continued behind closed doors.
Other governors present at the meeting are: Oyo state Governor, Seyi Makinde, his Osun state counterpart, Gboyega Oyetola, Lagos state governor , Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Dapo Abiodun of Ogun state and the Governor of Ekiti state, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.
A communique is expected to be issued at the end of the meeting.
