Oluwatayo Odutayo Bags NiTA Award for Innovation Scaling in Environmental Data Analytics
Oluwatayo M. Odutayo has been named Most Promising Environmental Data Analyst of the Year at the 2020 Nigeria Technology Awards (NiTA), a recognition that celebrates her practical, hands-on use of data and geospatial tools to address real environmental challenges in Nigeria.
The award was presented on Saturday, November 21, 2020, during the 6th edition of the Nigeria Technology Awards, following a competitive screening process that evaluated innovation, relevance, and impact across the technology sector. At the time of the award, Odutayo worked as an Environmental Data Analyst with the Ministry of Environment, where she focused on using data not just for reporting, but for action. Her work centered on translating environmental data into clear, usable insights that could guide inspections, improve compliance monitoring, and support better regulatory decisions. Rather than relying on traditional manual approaches, she applied geospatial analysis and data-driven methods to identify environmental risk areas, streamline monitoring activities, and support evidence-based enforcement.
