Amaechi Mourns Miller, Wokekoro

• Says they lived honest lives

The Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has described the demise of two of his political allies as painful, noting that he was saddened to hear about the deaths of the duo of Chief Nnamdi Wokekoro (the Ikwerre 1 of Ikwerre land) and Hon. Anderson Miller who was a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly at the time he (Amaechi) was governor.

Speaking at Nkoro, in Opobo Nkoro Local Government Area of the state at the funeral service of Miller at the weekend, Amaechi described Miller as a man who lived an honest life.

He also said the late Miller provided fair representation for his people at the time he was in the state sssembly.

“I got to know Miller through Dr. Sam Sam Jaja and I know that he was a very honest man. I worked with him when I was governor, so I can tell you how honest Miller was. That honest life that Miller lived is key to me. Once you are honest, you are my friend.”

“And I know all of us will work together for the benefit of his family. When I was governor, Miller put pressure on me to do the Nkoro bridge and he emphasized that it will be a lot easier for him politically if we did that,” Amaechi said.

Amaechi also visited the Port Harcourt residence of the late former mayor of Port Harcourt City Local Government Council, Chief Nnamdi Wokekoro where he addressed the deceased’s family.

He described the death of the late philanthropist and politician as a “Big blow” to him and the entire APC family.

On how the death will affect APC’s victory in 2019 elections, particularly in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area where the deceased hailed from, Amaechi said, “Anybody will feel very bad about the death of a friend or family member. Nnamdi Wokekoro’s death is a very big blow to us in APC. As a party there are those who are followers of Nnamdi Wokekoro who are also pained about his death. There may be issues of whether his followers may leave the party now that he is no more alive but I can tell you that although it is a big loss, we would win the 2019 elections in the state including PHALGA where Nnamdi comes from.”

He said, the party in collaboration with the deceased family would plan a befitting burial for Wokekoro.
