The National Chairman of frontline opposition party, Action Peoples Party (APP), Chief Uche Nnadi, has commended the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, for being the first state chief executive to pay N85,000 as minimum wage to state workers.

The party chairman, in a statement in Abuja, described Governor Fubara as a true democrat and exemplary leader who has the interest of the workforce at heart.

Part of the statement read: “Despite the distractions in some quarters, the governor has demonstrated that the money of the people should be for the good of the people.

“The payment of the N85,000 as minimum wage in Rivers State is the highest so far among the 36 states of the Federation.”

“This shows that the governor has good programme and policies to turn around the fortunes of the state.

“Governor Fubara has shown to the world that he is desirous of improving the welfare of the people of Rivers State despite the opposition by those who want to  destabilise the state.”

The APP national chairman, however, urged the people of Rivers State to give the state chief executive the desired support to fully deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.

He said: “The party is proud to be associated with Governor Fubara and will do everything as a party to support him to do more for the people of Rivers State.”
