A newly elected leadership of Nawfia community in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State has promised to resolve lingering leadership crisis in the community.

The community has been enmeshed in leadership tussle for years now, leading to factionalization and parallel monarchs and town union leaders.

The community has for years had three individuals laying claims to the community’s throne, each claiming to be the authentic monarch, while two parallel executives of the community’s town union also exist.

But following a recent judgment by the Ogidi High Court upholding the Sir Nathan Enemuo faction of the town union executive, which was dissolved by the Anambra State government before the end of its tenure, a fresh election was held at the weekend, after the expiration of their tenure.

In the election, which held at Nawfia town hall, Chief Ifeanyichukwu Nkemka was elected unopposed, after two other contestants stepped down for him.

The new president general, Nkemka, in a chat with journalists, said: “We are aware of the many problems of the community, and we will work hard to bring all the factions together and unite the community.”

He was elected alongside Chief Ifeanyi Okoye as Vice PG; Comrade Tony Obiesili, Secretary; Mr. Ebubechukwu Okagbue, Asst. Secretary; Chief Alex Okoye, Financial Secretary; Mr. Obinna Okpalo, Treasurer; Chief Gab Obineme, Publicity Secretary; Mr Ejike Okeke, Welfare Secretary and Provost, Mr Paul Diobu.
