There was jubilation in Nawfia community, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State Tuesday, as leaders of the community, who were previously sacked by the state government returned to office after a court judgment.

An Anambra High Court sitting in Ogidi recently overruled the Anambra State government by returning the executive leaders of the community back to office.

At the maiden meeting of the newly installed executive Tuesday, indigenes of the community expressed happiness, saying the reinstatement was a sign that government’s decision to remove them in the first place was wrong.

The President General of the newly reinstated executive, Mr Nathan Enemuo, who presided over the meeting, assured the people that the leadership of the community will ensure peace in the community.

“We will continue to work to ensure peace in the community. Having been reinstated, our tenure will elapse in the next 47 days, and we are working to ensure smooth election of another set of executive,” Enemuo said.

The meeting was attended by several personalities in the community, including the traditional ruler of the community, priests and religious leaders, among other indigenes.

The community had been in crisis, following leadership tussle, which had broken it into factions, with each running parallel leadership.
