Security Beefed up in Kano, as Thugs Disrupt Election in Kunchi/Tsanyawa LGs

Suspected political thugs have reportedly disrupted the Saturday rerun election processes in 10 Polling Units at the Kunchi Local Government area of Kano State.

It was gathered that the thugs stormed the area, hijacked, and took away election materials despite the presence of heavy security personnel at the polling units.

The elections were held in three local governments including Tsanyawa/Kunchi, Kura/Garun Mallam, and Tofa/Rimin Gado constituencies.

The police had provided adequate security at all the polling units to ensure peaceful conduct of the rerun for the Kano State House of Assembly.

However, it was observed by our Correspondent the presence of suspected political thugs despite the massive deployment of security agents, including the police, army officers, and Civil Defence personnel.

In the Kura/Garun Malam local government area, there was adequate security personnel at the polling units while voters were casting their votes without any hindrance.

There was a large turnout of voters at the Auzunawa polling unit in Kurunsumau ward Kura local government area, as armed policemen were seen patrolling and controlling the crowd while eligible voters cast their votes peacefully.

The security operatives at the election venues were subjecting voters to thorough checks to ensure nobody brought any unwanted thing within the voting areas.
