Blessing Ibunge in Port Harcourt
An indigenous group known as Kilali Tribe, has been urged to encourage women in the Niger Delta region and Nigeria at large to improve themselves in entrepreneurship so at to fit in to the society.
The Director for Capacity Building for Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Dr. Amaijaan Ikuru, made the call in his remarks at the Kilali Tribe’s annual conference, in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
Speaking on the theme of the conference “Surviving Change,” Ikuru encouraged the group to take advantage of government policies and programmes curated to assist women improve their businesses.
He highlighted that “NCDMB has various packages women can tap into” and urged them to go to the board’s website, where he said lots of opportunities exist.
Also speaking, President of the group, Dr. Tonye Ifie-Sekibo, expressed the organisation’s commitment to societal impact through the annual gatherings.
Ifie-Sekibo emphasised the significance of networking in an atmosphere of learning and enjoyment, underlining the importance of strong bonds and broader connections.
“Our hope and the passion is that everybody would be inspired to be the change that they want to see, and collectively we can do this,” she remarked.
On her part, Stella Fubara, a member of the Kilali Tribe, encouraged women to embrace resilience amid life’s complexities.
“To the average Niger Delta woman who is still struggling, remember that at some point in life, every great leader struggled. How you manage yourself out of the struggle is what will take you out of the struggle to the next level,” she shared.
The Kilali Tribe, comprising 13 accomplished female professionals, aims not only to consolidate their strengths but also to positively impact the lives of women in the Niger Delta.
