Suspected armed kidnappers have killed a man, who was a farm supervisor, when they stormed the farm of a former Senator who represented Kwara South in the National Assembly, Simeon Suleiman Ajibola, in Isapa town of Ekiti Local Government Area in Kwara State.

The victim, it was gathered, was the supervisor of the farm, Mr. Biodun Ajibola, who was murdered in cold blood while trying to resist the move to kidnap him.

The deceased, it was also learnt, was one of the relatives of  Senator Ajibola.

Already, operatives of the state Police Command have commenced the man-hunting of the suspected kidnappers in order to arrest them.

THISDAY checks revealed that the suspected kidnappers were said to have stormed the farms around 8 a.m. last Monday morning in the town.

A family source yesterday told THISDAY that the kidnappers’ move to whisk away one Felix Segun Adeleye, who is the driver attached to the supervisor of the farms, failed after they sighted some motorcyclists coming to their direction.

The source added that the kidnappers abandoned the driver, who had been injured in his leg, and pursued the motorcyclists.

The source, however, said: “Thank God that Senator Simeon Ajibola was not around. Perhaps their intention was to take him away. But the supervisor in charge of the farms was not lucky as he was killed when the kidnappers invaded the farms.

“Senator Ajibola’s driver attached to the late supervisor was wounded and he is currently in the hospital in Ilorin receiving treatment.”

When asked how sure he was that the gunmen were kidnappers, the source said: “The driver told me that they attempted to take him away after killing the supervisor of the farms. But that they abandoned him when they saw some motorcyclists and faced them.”

Sources close to the farms told THISDAY in Ilorin yesterday that the incident has been reported at the Osi Police Divisional headquarters in Ekiti LGA after which the remains of Ajibola were evacuated.

When contacted on the incident yesterday, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO),  Mr. Ajayi Okasanmi, who confirmed the incident, said the corpse had been evacuated from the scene.

He said the policemen were on the trail of the hoodlums.
