IG Posts New Police Commissioner to Akwa Ibom

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Usman Baba Alkali, has posted a new Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olatoye Durosinmi, to Akwa Ibom State Police Command.

Durosinmi would take over from Assistant Inspector General of Police, Mr. Andrew Amiengheme, who is newly promoted.

The new commissioner holds a B.Sc (Hons) in Sociology from the University of Ife and an LLB from the Delta State University, Abraka.

He was called to the bar in 2001 and has a Master’s degree in Law (LLM) from the Lagos State University. His PHD in Law from Imo State University is in view.

Durosinmi was appointed into the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police on the 3rd of March 1990, and has served in various capacities and attended Courses both locally and internationally.

Before his current appointment at Akwa Ibom State Command, he was an assistant commissioner of Police, Department of Operations, Imo State Police Command and an assistant commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department, Akwa Ibom Police Command.

He had also served as an area commander, Akure, and deputy commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department, Kebbi State Police Command. He was also deputy commissioner of Police, Federal Special Weapon and Tactics (FSWAT), Annex, Lagos.

A statement that was issued yesterday by Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Akwa Ibom State Police Command, SP. Odiko MacDon, said that he assumed duty as the command’s 31st Commissioner of Police.

Durosinmi enjoined the peace loving people of the  State to remain law abiding and accord him the needed co-operation to fight crime and criminality and to continue to make the state one of the most peaceful in the country.
