As rumours have it that Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, has endorsed the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Hon. Biodun Oyebanji, for the January 22, 2022, governorship primary in the state, some leaders of the All Progressive Congress (APC) have also described the SSG as the right man to continue the agenda of the party in the state.

The leaders of the party in Ijero Local Government Area unanimously endorsed Oyebanji yesterday, describing him as possessing the competence, commitment as well as administrative and political savvy to consolidate on the gains already laid by Fayemi for the Ekiti people.

At the meeting convened by the House of Representatives member representing Ijero/Ekiti West/Efon Alaye federal constituency, Hon. Omowumi Ogunlola, the leaders unanimously agreed to work for the emergence of Oyebanji at APC primaries slated for January 22.

Speaking at the meeting, Ogunlola said the purpose of the gathering was to officially declare the support of Ijero APC leaders for the governorship ambition of the Ikogosi-born politician ambition.

She said the party leaders had resolved to throw their weights behind Oyebanji’s candidature after a holistic study of the political environment and scrutiny of the profile of all the aspirants jostling for the party’s ticket.

Ogunlola said there was no better person among the aspirants jostling to take

over from Fayemi than Oyebanji, who she said had the required administrative acumen and leadership skills for the plum job.

She noted that Oyebanji’s experience in public service and his level-headedness are invaluable prerequisites for handling a sophisticated state like Ekiti, adding that the SSG has all it takes to sustain the progressive developmental legacies of Governor Fayemi.

According to her, “After a careful appraisal of the aspirants jostling for the APC governorship ticket, the leaders of the party had unanimously resolved to support Oyebanji’s candidacy.

“Our leader, Fayemi, had laid a solid foundation for the state, and that the SSG, with his vast experience in the public service and administrative skills, would consolidate on the legacies of the governor and take the state to the next level.

“It’s a known fact that that Oyebanji is the most experienced politician currently serving in Fayemi’s cabinet. So, we the APC members in Ijero are convinced beyond reasonable doubt that Oyebanji possesses all qualities needed to govern Ekiti State after the completion of the second term of Governor Fayemi.”
