Beauty training facility, Laserderm Aesthetics Academy has pledged to continue to uphold the standard in skin care practice, just as it tasked operators on professionalism.

The Chief Operating Officer of Laserderm Group, Omolade Olatawura, declared this at the academy’s maiden Learners Open Day, held as part of efforts to promote competence in the field.

While expressing worry over the proliferation of incompetent hands in the field of beauty and aesthetics, Olatawura maintained that the skin must be taken care of just like the internal organs.

She revealed that increasing awareness on skin care, as well as accompanying interest, has further drawn attention to incompetence that has dominated the field, adding that there was urgent need for regulatory intervention.

She added that Laserderm Aesthetics Academy, an arm of Laserderm Group, was established specifically to bridge skills and knowledge gap in the industry, adding that not many qualified trainers existed in the country.

She said,” The aesthetics industry in Nigeria is on a steady rise with increasing awareness, acceptance and demand for non-invasive aesthetics procedures by Nigerians who are now more attentive to the appearance, condition of their skin and general disposition to aesthetic appearances.

“The increased awareness has resulted to current shortages in skilled professionals and limited-availability of reputable, internationally accredited training centers that offer professional certifications”.

Speaking further, the Head of School, Omotoke Sikaiye explained that the academy “offers internationally accredited courses with certified trainers,” thus providing learners with same value as abroad.

Earlier, Sikaiye disclosed that the idea of the open day was to draw the attention of interested individuals as well as practitioners who wished to take a career in the field .
