#EndSARS Memorial Protest Victim Cries for Help

As the actions of security operatives during the one year memorial of #EndSARS protests continue to generate controversy, a victim of hoodlum attack at the Lekki Tollgate has cried out to the Lagos State Government for assistance.

Mr. Shina Edun, who is currently undergoing medical attention in a private hospital in the state, has appealed to the state Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to come to his aid by paying for his medical bills.

Edun, who is a Man O’ War officer dedicated to the Lekki Concession Company (LCC) to provide security, was allegedly stabbed on October 20, 2021, during the first anniversary of the protest that took place last year by youths against police brutality.

On his sick bed, Edun, who struggled to utter few words, said it was God that saved him.

Speaking with journalists, the Chief Security Officer of LCC, Mr. Solomon Tolofari, appealed to the state government to support the company in taking care of the medical bills of the victim.

Tolofari said: “We are here to visit a dedicated staff member of LCC, who was stabbed by #EndSARS’ protesters. On that day, because of the threat by the protesters, we sourced for external security in addition to our dedicated team.

“We were there when the protesters came in buses, but suddenly they disembarked and the Man O’ War team members, including Shina Edun, were asked to stay close to protect the plaza, but before we knew what was going on, they had stabbed him (Edun) in the abdomen, so we have to rush him to the hospital.”

He added that since the protesters had blocked the road, the management team had to take one way to take him to Falomo.

The CSO, however, appealed to the state government to assist the company in taking care of Edun, saying: “He has fallen victim in the course of discharging his duty. We want the state government to assist us.”

Also speaking, the Head of Commercial and Corporate Media of LCC, Mrs. Veronica Jacob, said: “You have seen our dedicated staff member who was stabbed. We are very concerned about the safety and security of our staff which was why we are here.

“But we thank God he is alive and he is recovering. We pray we don’t encounter something of this nature again. He has gotten medical attention but we will continue to follow up.”

Edun’s elder brother, Chief Kehinde Yusuf, also appealed to the state government to come to the aid of his family.

He added that his brother suffered serious injury as a result of the cut he received from the hoodlums, saying the bleeding was too much initially which made him unconscious.
