The Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) on Monday said that it will, from October 19 – 21, reduce the number of trips on the Abuja-Kaduna route so as to carry out schedule maintenance.

The Managing Director of NRC, Mr. Fidet Okhiria, made this known to THISDAY in a telephone interview in Abuja.

He explained that the reduction in the number of trips was to carry out scheduled maintenance.

Okhiria stated that rather than the daily 10 trips, there would be four trips only on October 19 and on October 20.

According to him, “We are withdrawing the Diesel Multiple Units (DMU) from Tuesday 19th – Thursday 21st October, 2021 for scheduled maintenance.

“The DMU will return to operations on Friday 22/10/21. Tuesday & Wednesday next week will be four trips each (i:e AK1, KA2, AK9 & KA10).

“Thursday 21/10/21 will be eight trips (AK1, KA2, AK3, KA4, AK7, KA6, AK9 & KA10) respectively, while full train service will return on Friday 22/10/21.”

The NRC boss, while assuring the passengers of full train services which will resume on Friday, October 22, apologised for the inconveniences the reduction in the number of trips might cause the passengers.

The NRC introduced an additional Diesel Multiple Unit on the route recently which increased the number of train trips from eight to 10 per day.
