Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has lauded the Group Managing Director of BSTAN Group, Dr. Becky Olubukola, over her initiative to find a lasting solution to the housing challenge in the country.
He encouraged the real estate businesswoman to work hand in hand with other property developers in the country to provide adequate accommodation for Nigerians.
The ex-President while speaking through a recorded video which was transmitted to the audience at the second-day of the National Housing Fair 5.0 organised by the BSTAN Group in Abuja yesterday , said that the issue of housing deficit should be a thing of the past in the country.
Speaking further, Obasanjo also advised Dr. Olubukola to work with other organisations around the continent for house problems and solutions.
‘’This challenge which over the last six years has continued to rear its ugly head must be tackled with all hands on deck,’’ Obasanjo said.
Dr. Olubukola said the aim of the event was to help in solving the housing need of the people and charting the way forward in the sector.
Speaking on the various achievements and contributions of the National House Fair since its inception five years ago, she said, “The National House Fair which started five years ago, has been a tremendous success, it has brought good tidings to the citizens of this country. The last five years, we have provided over 10,000 houses in several states of this country and several families have been able to acquire their property; a plot of land, or a basic apartment through the National House Fair.”
The 3-day programme which commenced on Thursday at International Conference Centre, ICC, Abuja, has witnessed many speakers and panelists such as Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, ministers, Senators, top government officials, real estate top-shots, captains of industry among others.
The event is expected to end today with other speakers and many side attractions.
The three-day event has as its theme: ‘Three ‘S’ of Shelter in Economic Stability – A New Wave”. Viz-a-viz Standard, Secure, and Sustainable’.
