The Bonny Local Government Area Chairman, in Rivers State, Mr. David Rogers Irimagha has been reportedly dead after battling undisclosed illness.

THISDAY gathered that the Bonny boss died Saturday morning, in an undisclosed hospital in Port Harcourt, the State capital, a few days after celebrating the first 100 days into his second term in office.

Although there is no official confirmation yet from his family, the Bonny Local Government Council or his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), but sources close to the late council confirmed his death.

The source disclosed: “He has been sick for a while now. He was complaining of not feeling well and we hear that his lungs were rupturing and he went into a coma and later gave up the ghost around midnight”.

Another source disclosed that the late council boss’ illness could be linked to COVID-19 complications, saying that he was diagnosed and being treated of the infection but went into coma and later passed on early hours of Saturday.

Irimagha, who was a one-time leader of the Bonny Legislative Assembly, was elected for a second term in office on Saturday, April 17, 2021 and subsequently sworn into office by Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike at Government House, Port Harcourt on June 17.
