Fayemi to Speak at OAU Discourse

The Ekiti State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), Dr. Kayode Fayemi, would deliver a lecture at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife-Ife, on Thursday, September 2.

The lecture would take place at a conference organised by the Astute Debaters’ Club, Obafemi Awolowo University with the theme: “Arresting Nigeria’s Drift Towards the Precipice” and debate topic: “Nigeria at Crossroads: Disintegration or Indivisibility.”

Fayemi would speak on issues bordering on Nigeria’s national unity and stability.

A statement signed by President of the Group, Mr. Azeezat Adekanye, said that the discourse would proffer solutions to challenges bedeviling the South-west region and Nigeria at large, as well as empower students to generate ideas for equitable development for all citizens.

Adeyinka said: “We aim to bring university students from across the South-west to engage in a competitive debate that will enhance their critical thinking skills and foster leadership capability.

“This is as we expect to help generate and promote progressive ideas that will positively shape public opinion and ultimately influence public policy,” the statement noted.

The maiden edition of the programme is in furtherance of its mandate to facilitate dialogue around socio-economic and political issues affecting immediate communities, South-west, Nigeria and the world at large.
