FG Extends Eased Lockdown by Four Weeks

The federal government has extended the guidelines of phase three of the eased lockdown by one month with effect from Tuesday, January 26, 2021.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha announced this Monday at the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 briefing in Abuja.

Mustapha, who is the Chairman of the PTF, anchored the decision to extend all extant measures that were prescribed in the guidelines in phase three of the eased lockdown on the fact that the country had continued to see an increase in COVID-19 cases in recent times.

He said the country’s daily statistics for the pandemic as of January 24, indicated that there were 121,566 COVID-19 cases, while 1,270,523 tests had been carried out.

Also 97,228 cases had been discharged while the total COVID-19 fatality was 1,504.

He also assured that the effort to access and deploy vaccines was progressing as COVAX was due to deliver the initial 100,000 doses which the country was expecting in the early weeks of February.
