Ajibade ‘Milly’ Martins better known as “Milly Hussle” has shared his intentions to kick off a yearly internship and mentoring program for aspiring artiste managers and event/show promoters. He said this has become necessary to ensure that the events management and show promoting is professionally carried out. He said a lot of Nigerian artiste managers and show promoters have been overlooked for so long and with this initiative he hopes to revive the culture of professionalism in show business in the upcoming generation.
He said beginning November 2020 He will begin an internship and mentoring program. He said this is aimed at helping young men/women who are passionate about artiste management and events promotion to kick start their career. “Human investment is always better than material investment. You could buy 20 cars, but can only drive one at a time. But when you mentor people, they will in turn invest in others and become employers of labour in future thereby paying it forward”, he said.
Ajibade said the program, was initially slated to begin in July, but due to the coronavirus pandemic it was postponed till November so logistical challenges can be sorted out for a virtual event. He said, “with the rising rate of infections and deaths caused by covid 19 it wasn’t wise to start the program in person as previously scheduled”. He also pointed out that the covid pandemic a lot of events and programs had to be done in a virtually compliant method. He said that even though mentorship programs work better in person as opposed to virtually, doing it remotely meant even more people can participate from their comfort zone be it their office or from home as long as they had an Internet connection.
