The Lagos Country Club has unveiled it’s anniversary logo as part of activities marking the 70th anniversary of the social institution.
Speaking at a media briefing in Lagos recently, the Director-General of Lagos Country Club, Chief Babatunde Okunuga, noted that the club has evolved from a humble beginning in 1949 to become a prized institution.
“The club success today is not a happenstance, for this great club has been blessed with leaders who tilled the ground and rolled up sleeves to give us a befitting place we have prided as a second home. Little wonder we are rolling out the red carpet,” he noted.
He also stated that the anniversary marks an age of introspection and inner wisdom, adding that the club understands the social and recreational needs for improved physical, “and emotional wellbeing of members and has done this in the past 70 years.”
Speaking on the rationale for the logo, Okunuga said the club has used gold and black because they are associated with illumination, love, compassion, courage, passion and wisdom.
He added that the club celebrations span different spheres of life germane to humanity, adding that the club would be having activities under the broad spectrums of business, social, fitness, religion, corporate social responsibility and awards.
According to him, “This logo shows that for 70 years, we represent strength and authority which make us a force to be reckoned with. Our anniversary is a time to look back at the good times and a time to look ahead to live our dreams together. We are a club defined by diversity of people and strong values.
“Our club promotes recreational and social interests of members; as well as inter-ethnic and inter-racial understanding amongst people.
“That is why in these past 70 years, distinguished leaders, business moguls and political leaders are among the eminent personalities who have graced the grounds of Lagos Country Club and have affirmed that we are indeed a ‘model in sports and social harmony.
“The club celebrations span different spheres of life germane to humanity, adding that the club would be having activities under the broad spectrums of business, social, fitness, religion, corporate social responsibility and awards.”
