Calistus Anozie, 92 for Burial March 15

Renowned Agriculturist Chief Callistus Okoye Anozie will be laid to Mother Earth on March 15, 2019 at his country home in Idemili South Local Government Area, Anambra State.

The funeral of the Agriculturist, who died at 92, would commence with a Christian wake keep on March 14, 2019 at his compound in Nnokwa while thanksgiving service takes place by 10am on March 17, 2019 at St Mary’s Catholic Church Nnokwa two days after the burial.

Anozie, who died January 17, 2019, was blessed with seven children- Mrs. Ijeoma Egwuonwu, Dr. (Mrs.) Chinyere Obinabo, Mr James Anozie, Mr. Kevin Anozie, Lady Ifeyinwa Maduabuchi (JP), MrsIfeoma Ogwulumba and Mrs. Nneka Agunye and also with twenty three grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

According to a statement by the family, “he was an available father. Always there to tell bed time stories and help out with home works when they were kids. To his wife, he was a back bone and moral support. Even though like every human he erred once in a while, he always ensured that differences are settled immediately.

“He never drove her out or considered leaving the marriage when they had misunderstanding, instead he showed love and brought aura of peace into the marriage.”

He worked as a teacher in catholic school Emekuku, Imo State in 1947. In 1948, he started work as an Agriculturist at Nkwelle Ezunaka farm settlement after which he proceeded for further studies at the college of agriculture Ibadan.

Upon graduation he was posted to Awka to head the agriculture division. From Awka, he moved to Nsukka, Otuocha, Igbariam, Erei, Adani, Umulokpa, Ohaji farm settlements, Eha Amufu and finally Ufuma where he retired voluntarily as principal agricultural superintendent in 1984.

Anozie’s kindness to anyone that come across him earned him several awards and titles within and outside his community.  He was rewarded with a chieftaincy title of Ozuomee 1 of Nnokwa by HRH (Rtd AIG) G.N Ezekwem of blessed memory in the year 1984.
