Echoes of life and times of the strongman of Ibadan politics, Alhaji Lamidi Adedibu, reverberated yesterday in Ibadan as the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji; two former Deputy Governors of Oyo State, Azeem Gbolarumi and Taofeek Arapaja and Islamic clerics prayed Allah to repose the soul of the late politician in heaven.

Adedibu died 10 years ago at the age of 80 years. Ever since, annual Ramadan lecture has been held to immortalise him.
The Olubadan who was in the Olubadan-in-council with the late Adedibu, recalled the good deeds of the late colourful politician and prayed God to forgive his trespasses.

Also, both Gbolarumi and Arapaja extolled the virtues of Adedibu who they described as political father and colossus.
The surviving wife, Alhaja Bose Adedibu in her remarks said Adedibu was everything to her; a father, husband and mentor, adding that, “His footprints in the sand of time still remain evergreen in my heart and all the children he left behind.
“We will continue to remember him and that informed why we continue to hold annual Ramadan lecture in his honour. This is the 10th edition and we will continue to organise it to feed souls of what Allah commands us to do,” Alhaja Adedibu added.

In his sermon, the renown Islamic cleric, Sheikh Buhari Musa urged all living souls to remember that one day, they would be asked to account for all their deeds in the hereafter.
He spoke glowingly of Adedibu’s philanthropic gestures while alive and tasked the gathering to emulate good virtues of the late politician through giving to the have-nots for the society to be a better place to live in
