Agali Excited by Samson Siasia Stadium Turf

Former Super Eagles forward, Victor Agali, wednesday expressed his pleasant surprise at the world-class quality of the turf of the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

Speaking shortly after his side, Delta Force FC played Bayelsa United in a pre-season tune up game at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Agali said he was amazed that such facility exists in a Nigerian stadium.

“I can’t believe this pitch is in Nigeria. It is simply the best in the country right now,” gushed the ex-international.
The turf, recently renovated by the Bayelsa State government, is to be inaugurated soon.

Bayelsa United and Delta Force were allowed to test-run the Geo-technology pitch, under closed door supervision of the contractor handling the project, Monimichelle.

Agali who is one of Gernot Rohr’s back-room staff in the Super Eagles said the Samson Siasia Stadium turf is simply fantastic, even as he commended Bayelsa State government for going for the very best.

“I don’t think we have anything near this in this country. The pitch here at the Samson Siasia Stadium is fantastic. The government has done a great job and I think the company that did it should be given the chance to replicate this in different parts of the country, especially the Abuja National Stadium.

“We need to have this kind of fine pitch in Abuja. This is the latest technology when you talk about artificial pitch that is close to natural grass turf. The players can express themselves well here and there won’t be any injury worries,” Agali noted.

The Okpanam, Delta State-born ex-international, said his plan is to build a solid Delta Force team that would gain promotion to the elite class.

He stressed that he won’t disappoint the people of Delta, adding that it is an honour for him to be given the opportunity to serve his state of origin.

Agali last season handled Lagos-based NNL side, Racine FC.
