GOtv Boxing Night 13
Rilwan Oladosu, the lightweight boxer who won the N2.5 million cash prize attached to the Mojisola Ogunsanya Memorial Trophy for the best boxer at GOtv Boxing Night 13, has thanked GOtv, sponsors of the event.                       Â
He was voted best boxer on account of his performance in the bout against Kehinde Badmus at the event, which held on Boxing Day at Landmark Event Centre, Victoria Island.
Speaking in Lagos on Thursday, Oladosu said the cash prize will motivate him to aim higher. “I am happy at what GOtv is doing for boxing. Boxers are being encouraged and made to have a sense of pride in their trade. I want to say a big thank you to them. They have made me happy and have motivated me to aim higher,” he said.                        Â
Also at the event, Rilwan Babatunde, who won the national light welterweight title by defeating Chijioke Ngige, was voted runner-up to Oladosu and went home with N1million. Rilwan Oyekola, the second runner-up, won N500,000.                    Â
GOtv Boxing Night 13 produced two African Boxing Union (ABU) title winners from Nigeria. Oto Joseph knocked out Abdulrahim Ahmed of Egypt to win the ABU lightweight title, while Olaide Fijabi knocked out Shadrack Ignas Kobero of Tanzania to claim the light welterweight title.
Nigeria’s Abolaji Rasheed successfully defended his West African Boxing Union title against Arye Ayitteh of Ghana, winning by unanimous decision.
