The Deputy Governor of Ekiti State and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the 2018 governorship election, Prof Kolapo Olusola, has boasted that the resolute nature of the Ekiti electorate will make it difficult for the All Progressives Congress (APC)  to rig the coming poll in the state.

Olusola said the people’s will are mightier than the federal might in any democratic setting, saying the rants  that the federal government may deploy its power to rig the election in favour of APC  won’t work.

He described his candidacy as God-ordained, urging his kinsmen from Ikere Ekiti to see the governorship project as ‘Ikere agenda’ that must be supported by all the indigenes, regardless of political inclinations.
The deputy governor spoke yesterday during a rally organised by the youths to bolster his political aspiration.
The rally, which witnessed mammoth crowd  started from Oke Ikere via Uro quarters and ended at the palace of  Ogoga of Ikere Ekiti, Oba Adejimi Adu Alagbado.

Those who participated in the procession included the Speaker, Hon. Kola Oluwawole, Commissioners for Education, Jide Eegunjobi, Budget, Gbenga Olajide, honourable representing Ikere 1 at the State House of Assembly, Hon. Wale Ayeni, Special Adviser on Political Matters, Alhaji Dauda Ajise, among others.
Olusola, who addressed the crowd  advised the indigenes of the town in Ekiti to participate in the ongoing continuous voter registration exercise  with the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC)  to shore up the voting strength of the town ahead of the poll.

“It is necessary that you register because that  your voter cards are your AK47 against the APC on the day of election. It is the weapon that you will use to vote, so that these people will not come through the backdoor to power.

“Today’s rally shows that all the Ikere sons and daughters appreciated our governor, Chief Fayose for deeming it fit to make Ikere person a candidate. You must come together to support this project, because this is more of Ikere agenda that knows no political bounds.

“Whether you are PDP or APC members, you must support this project and when an Ikere person becomes the governor, all of us will reap the benefit
“We are grateful to governor Fayose and the PDP for counting one of us worthy to become the governor. You know that our governor is a friend of the masses. He loves the people and operates an open door policy. Let me assure you that I will operate the same way if you elect me, because Fayose leads, we follow”, he said.

Olusola added that the December 23, 2017 local government elections in the state would be a mere walk over for the PDP.
“The PDP will win all the 16 chairmanship and the 177 councillorship seats, I don’t expect anything less”, he stated.
