RAMP: Some States Won’t Meet 2018 Deadline for Completion of Projects

As the deadline for the completion of the rehabilitation of rural roads under the Rural Assess and Mobilisation Project (RAMP) draws near, it has been confirmed that some states of the federation will not meet the 2018 deadline.

The federal government and the World Bank joint sponsors of the programme had agreed that the funding of the projects at least by the World bank should end next year.

National Coordinator of the programme, Mr Ubandoma Ularamu, disclosed this at the launch of community based Rural Roads Maintenance Scheme at the Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi International Conference Centre, Minna, Niger State on Wednesday.

Ularamu said the inability of some states to meet the set deadline was as a result of the “delay in implementation experienced in all RAMP-2 states” but did not mention the affected states.

The coordinator however said that the relevant agencies and the federal government were “making arrangements to seek for extension of the project completion time as advised during the World Bank implementation support mission held in November 2017”.
