Technology is Core of Range Rover Velar’s Design

Elegant simplicity, a visually reductive approach and pioneering consumer technology are the hallmarks of the new Range Rover Velar.
Created from a clean sheet using Jaguar Land Rover’s Lightweight Aluminium Architecture, Velar uses the very latest advanced technologies to combine meticulous attention to precision in every detail with usability.
Velar’s instantly iconic design has already featured as a headline attraction in art museums and exhibitions in the UK, graced fashion runways in Italy, and formed part of the Parisian skyline. It brings a new dimension of presence, modernity and minimalist design to the Range Rover family. Incredible to behold and highly desirable, Velar is a new type of Range Rover for a new type of customer.
Its clean lines, taut surfaces and a stunning silhouette are enabled by technologies such as super slim, full-LED headlights. These are the most-slender headlights to appear on a production Land Rover vehicle, offering supreme night-time visibility in an attractive, compact design. Land Rover also developed new technology for Velar’s flush deployable handles, which emphasis its sculptured form and contribute to a low drag co-efficient. At only 0.32, this is the most aerodynamically efficient Land Rover ever produced.
The use of design-enabling technology continues inside, where an unwavering belief in minimalism drives Velar’s elegant simplicity, sophistication and refinement. Switches have been kept to an absolute minimum to create a calm sanctuary for drivers and passengers.
At the centre of this is Land Rover’s latest infotainment system: Touch Pro Duo. Known as ‘Blade’ by development engineers, because of its slender profile and clean surfaces, it makes the in-car technology experience clearer, quicker and more enjoyable – enhancing every journey. Its two 10-inch high-definition touchscreens precisely follow the subtle curvature of the instrument panel for seamless, perfectly flush surface integration.
Conventional dials and buttons are eliminated, creating extra space in the centre console. These slim, intuitive displays work in harmony with the cabin architecture while adding an overall sense of modernity congruent with the vehicle’s exterior design.
For drivers, a 12.3-inch high-definition virtual instrument cluster delivers a rich, high-technology experience and allows prioritisation of key information: a two-dial layout with an information panel in the centre, a one-dial layout flanked by dual information displays, or a full-map view.
In Velar, the main interface between man and machine – the steering wheel – also uses the latest technologies for enhanced functionality. The steering wheel controls are backlit, and use capacitive technology to sense intuitive touch gestures. Drivers can also programme certain functions to the controls on the steering wheel.
The New Range Rover Velar will be available at Land Rover dealers in October 2017. Pricing is available on request, in sub-Sahara Africa markets. Customers can build their own Velar using the Land Rover Configurator on the www.landrover.com.  All new Land Rover vehicles come with the Land Rover Care Plan: a five-year/100 000km service plan and a five-year/150 000km warranty as standard.
