The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has embarked on a four-day free medical mission for animal and man in Gombe State under its Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers.

The Director General of NYSC, Brigadier General Suleiman Zakari Kazaure, who inaugurated the programme Thursday at Sabon-Gari Nassarawo community in Gombe metropolis, said: “In this Initiative, we collaborate with the communities and local governments to get to the grassroots and give them healthcare delivery.

“NYSC is full of abundance of human resource. We have the wherewithal in human resource – the manpower, what we lack is the materials.”

According to him, “So it is in our character to collaborate with the government in the state to get this healthcare delivery to the rural areas, using our corps members.”

Gen. Kazaure, who was represented by the State Coordinator of NYSC, Mr. Tobias Ibeh Chidube, commended the local government chairman for his support towards the programme, saying: “To the community, the greatest favour you are going to do for us is to make sure you make yourself available in the next four days.”
