The Kaduna State police command has arrested over 70 suspected kidnappers in various parts of the state in the last two months.

The state Commissioner of Police, Agyole Abeh, disclosed this while parading some of the kidnappers and armed robbers wednesday at the command’s headquarters in Kaduna.

Among those paraded were eight armed robbery suspects including four dismissed soldiers; 12 culpable suicide suspects; nine possessors of illegal fire arms and five suspected kidnappers among others.

Abeh said the arrests were the product of intelligence gathering and painstaking investigations by the police.

He said the command had stepped up surveillance within the state to flush out criminals.

Commenting on the increase in cases of kidnapping along the Birnin Gwari axis of the state where an assistant commissioner of police was recently kidnapped with members of his family, the police boss said new measures were being introduced to arrest the criminals and bring them to book.

He appealed to members of the public to provide useful information to the police and report suspicious people and movements within their locality.
