President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu and the Nigeria Sports Awards (NSA) have commended the Super Eagles over their good performance in the ongoing World Cup qualifying series which has put them at a vantage position to qualify for the 2018 tournament in Russia.

Saraki in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Yusuph Olaniyonu, in Abuja lauded the Eagles for the feat over Cameroon.

“You have proved your mettle in the last two matches and came top in your group with 10 points,” Saraki said. “Your win over Cameroon on Friday and a draw with the same opponent on Monday brought great joy to us all,” he noted.

In his reaction, the Deputy President of the Senate, Ekweremadu noted that the performance so far is a good development for the country and urged the players not to relent until after the final match in the series.

“This is a brave outing. With this result, Nigeria has one leg in Russia 2018 and no doubt it’s good news for Nigeria football,” he remarked shortly after the match on Monday.

In a related development, the organisers of the Nigeria Sports Awards (NSA), Unmissable Incentives Limited, also congratulate the team for its performance in both Uyo and Yaounde.
This was contained in a statement issued by the management of the company signed by the Chief Executive Officer of the company, Mr. Kayode Idowu.

The company equally commended the coaching crew for coming up with right set of players even as he charged them to sustain the momentum by going ahead to win other crucial encounters leading to the qualification for the World Cup in Russia.
Idowu who spoke through the statement hailed the teams for the ‘emphatic victories” recorded over their African foes saying that these reinforce Nigeria’s supremacy in sports.

The statement said the superlative performances of the Super Eagles as well as that of the female basketball team demonstrates the undying spirit of excellence common among Nigerian sports men and women.

The statement noted that going by the performances and the determinations on display, there was no doubt that both teams understand the stakes and are fully committed to achieving them.

The statement also said the performance of the female basketballers at the just concluded African tournament bears testimony to the commitment of Nigerian sports men and women to achieving excellence not only at the local level but internationally.
