2019: Group Takes Mobilisation for Atiku to South-South

A group operating under the aegis of United Atiku Abubakar Support Group (UABSG),has commenced mobilization in the South-south region ahead of the 2019 general elections in support of the presidential ambition of former Nigeria’s Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

It is generally believed that from some of his recent utterances and actions, the former Vice President is nursing the ambition of contesting the presidential election in 2019.

Though Abubakar is a currently a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), it is still hazy as to whether he will seek the actualisation of the said presidential ambition in the party or another political party.

The UABSG commenced mobilisation of support for the former vice president in the South-south region by inauguration its Cross River State chapter in Calabar.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Coordinators for the group for Cross River State, Zonal Coordinator of UABSG, Comrade Godswill Mathew, said the group was out to ensure Atiku gets massive support from the South-south region for his presidential ambition.

“We want to inform Nigerians especially those in the South South Zone that our leader, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, is one of the finest Nigerians with the capacity to lead our dear country to achieve prosperity and economic freedom.

“As a Zonal coordinator for the support group, we have the mandate of the National to inaugurate state coordinators and their executives across the six states of the zone, an exercise that we are kick-starting today with the formal inauguration of the Cross River State Support Group for 2019.

“The state coordinators will be empowered to inaugurate the local governments and then the ward coordinators. This exercise will be replicated across the states in the zone.” Mathew said.

Mathew said members of the group have strong conviction that the former vice president would do well in terms of boosting the nation’s human capital development and creating employment for Nigerians.

He said that Atiku was among the many distinguished Nigerians with the track record to lead the country out of its current quagmire.

Mathew said that Atiku was one of the finest breeds of politician with character and popularity that cut across all the geo-political zones to help the country stabilise the nation’s polity.

He urged the people of the South-south region , especially its teeming youths to support Atiku so, he can actualise his Presidential ambition in 2019.
The zonal coordinator said it was high time the people of the Niger Delta took their destiny in their hands, and assist “a man that impacted so much on their society.”

Mathew said members of the group were sure that if Atiku is given the mandate to lead, joblessness, poverty would become a thing of the past in Nigeria.
He said Atiku was among the many Nigerians that have touch the lives of youths, particularly when it comes to providing them with employment opportunities.

The group’s Zonal Publicity Secretary, Mr. Eba Ishmael, said that they remain committed to the course of helping Atiku “a man with enormous capacity to lead the country achieve enviable height”.

“As a group, we are going to traverse the nooks and crannies of the zone to ensure that our people are informed about this great icon of liberal democracy, and make the right choice in 2019.We are, therefore, calling on all sons and daughters of the zone to support this “Articulated Project” as our very own, and massively key into the project,” Ishmael said.

Convener and National coordinator of the group, Ambasador Usman Adams , in a telephone conference with journalists who covered the event said that aside from Atiku’s stride in job creation, and employment of thousands of youths in the country, the former vice president is a trusted Nigerians that can assist Nigeria restore her lost glory.

Adams said Atiku’s wealth of experience in virtually all the areas of human endeavor places him far above every other contender jostling to become president in 2019.

“The Turakin of Adamawa” as a detribalised Nigeria has created several job opportunities for the nation’s teeming youths irrespective of tribe and religion Atiku Abubakar is among the top contenders jostling for the nation’s plumb job”.

The convener disclosed that coordinators in the states will soon be empowered to inaugurate the group at local government areas, and wards, in an exercise that will be replicated in all the states in the country, and the federal capital, Abuja.
