Soldiers under the Operation Lafiya Dole fighting Boko Haram insurgency in Borno State yesterday ambushed and neutralised the terrorists logistics team around Alagarno Forest.

This came as the military intensified its efforts in curtailing the recent resurgence of attacks by Boko Haram terrorists.

Director of Army Public Relations, Brig. Gen. Sani Usman, said: “Troops  deployed in Forward Operation Base Mainok, at the early hours August 5, 2017, laid ambush for suspected Boko Haram terrorists along a track route leading to Alagarno forest.

“They were ferrying logistics items to their colleagues. The ambush team neutralised two Boko Haram terrorists and recovered their weapons, two motorcycles, jerry cans and milled guinea corn.

“Similarly, troops of 151 Battalion, 21 Brigade Nigerian Army, on routine clearing of bushes to aid unhindered movement of troops, discovered multiple Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs),” he added.

Usman added that the IEDs were “connected together laid on the shoulder of the road at a suspected terrorist ambush site along road Banki Junction-Bama. The troops successfully disconnected and recovered them.”
