Osinbajo in Addis Ababa for AU Summit

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo Monday left Nigeria for Addis Ababa, the Ethiopian capital, to participate in the 29th ordinary session of the African Union (AU).

A statement by his spokesman, Mr. Laolu Akande, said Osinbajo would join other African heads of governments and global leaders to discuss institutional reforms, peace and security matters as well as the reform of United Nations.

Akande, who disclosed the theme of the event as: “Harnessing the Demographic Dividend through Investments in the Youth,” added that the acting president would return to the country same day.

“Acting President Yemi Osinbajo will be representing Nigeria today (Monday) at the 29th Ordinary Session of the African Union in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He will be joining heads of states and governments from all over the continent and other invited global and continental leaders.

“The session is themed: ‘Harnessing the Demographic Dividend through Investments in the Youth.’ It will also discuss the report on the Institutional Reform of the AU, peace and security issues, and the reform of the United Nations Security Council among other topics on the summit agenda.

“Prof. Osinbajo leaves Nigeria this morning and is expected back later today,” the statement said.
