With the interest of the youth and national economy at heart, a group, Winning Women,an arm of House of Praise Christian Centre ,has reiterated its commitment to tackle poverty in the country through its annual empowerment programme for the youth and women population.
The group which is calling on government to partner and support private initiatives like itself that targets economic development,since government alone cannot cater for everybody’s needs ,pointed out that such move will be efficient enough to circulate wealth and guarantees financial freedom.
The convener of the group and Chief Executive Officer of Celebration Gardens International, Bawo Onabanjo traced faulty foundation such as broken home,poor schools, inadequate educational system,inadequate funding for entrepreneurs, lack of enabling environment for economic productivity and bad peer influence to the root of impoverishment in the country ,said that the group is on a mission to restore hope to the hopeless,thereby boosting the economy of Nigeria.
Speaking on this year’s edition of the programme which is coming up next week , between June 12th to 17th ,Onabanjo revealed that participtants would be exposed to various skills ranging from event planning and management, wedding decoration, photography,baking and catering, makeup & Gele tying, graphic design, balloon artistry,event compering, hat making and many others.
The convener who also encouraged youths and women to take advantage of the life changing programme noted that it will be more rewarding beyond the skill acquisition.
“Other benefits of participation included friendship, mentorship,exchange of ideas, certificate of participation and performance, Job network opportunities and many others.
“Most importantly, we would also assist committed and resourceful participants with cash reward with which they can start a business with. This is why we are seeking private and public partnership so that the effect of the programme can be widely felt”
Some of the motives of the initiative according to her were among others to deliver new skills to women and youths that can be transformed into wealth, upgrade their earning power as well as establish a powerful networking system for mutual benefit and advancement believing that when a woman is empowered, the family , community and the whole nation are empowered.
