Road Accident: NEMA Presents Drugs for Treatment of 58 Victims

In a move to demonstrate its commitment to the survival of victims of road accident, the
National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said it has responded to an appeal by Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Zaria, to come to its aid with drugs and other medical consumables to enable it treat 58 injured victims.

The appeal NEMA hinted, came following a fatal road accident along Zaria/ Kano Road on Friday 10 February 2017, involving a truck loaded with fire wood and about 100 passengers on top.

The agency in a statement by its Head, Media and Public Relations, Sani Datti, stated that the hospital has received 58 injured persons with 23 presently at intensive care unit, while 23 persons were dead.

The statement read: “The Coordinator of NEMA North West Zonal office, MusaIlallah who presented the drugs worth millions of Naira to the hospital sympathised with the injured victims and wished them quick recovery.”

He visited some of the most critically injured who were receiving treatment at the intensive care unit of the hospital, and expressed satisfaction over the way they were being taken care of by the hospital authority.

The chairman of the Hospital’s Medical Advisory Council, Professor Adamu Ahmed, receiving the drugs on behalf of the Medical Director, Professor Lawan Khalid appreciated the kind gesture and support. He explained that it would go a long way in replenishing it’s stock adding that some were treated and discharged.
